CANDELA RAMOS
My tango path...
My story with Tango starts at a very young age with 15 years old. I was switching my interest on ballet and contemporary dances for Tango.
On that moment I had a twisted ankle so for few months I wasn’t able to step on it and as I was bored at home I started to go and see Tango dancers for fun. I was amazed by this complex, full of spirals and high communication dance they were performing. Plus they were having so much fun!!!.
My path as a ballet dancer was a very hard and sacrificed one from a very young girl age as i was. So Tango was without question my new route since then… Shifting my attention inside of what I was feeling rather than trying to achieve a certain figure or shape on the mirror.
Very fast I met DNI Tango School, where my professional path had its beginning. There I met Dana Frigoli and Pablo Villarraza which turned to be my mentors and colleagues for next years.
There I became a teacher and a Tango dancer.
It was a perfect environment to learn and exchange curiosities with all the amazing humans and teachers, dancers and students that the school holed.
When I turned 21 my wings needed a fly, far from home, to explore the world.
And so I moved to Berlin.
This city gave me a lot of learnings and successes but specially it putted me in trail with one of the most important influences on my dance path.
The research of Axis Syllabus. A lens on how to learn about the body intelligence and wisdom developed through millions of years of evolution at the service of what ever we do with our bodies.
Suddenly I was able to decode the patterns that where useful and the ones not that much for me and my students, I also stated to have very sharp eyes to recognize what is it that was holding back potentials for the dancers.
And a whole work on translating that info into tango begging empowering students to learn Anatomy, physics and physiology in order to gain autonomy over their dance and bodies.
